A New Player in the Technical Training Arena
Kawasaki's Donation to PSI Recognizes Top Training Center

A new vocational mechanics school has entered the exciting world of motorcycle technician training. Cleveland Ohio’s PowerSport Institute (PSI) looks destined to become an important technician training resource on motorcycles, ATVs, and personal watercraft.

A division of Ohio Technical College, a technical training center since 1969, PSI brings a unique perspective to the powersports training experience that they call their Service Environment method. Best summed up by the college’s motto, “Real Training for the Real World,” this approach offers students the technical skills needed to be successful, but just as importantly, firsthand experience of what it is like to work in a service department environment.

“I have learned that the best way to prepare a technician to be successful in a service environment is to create one,” says PSI’s Director, Bernie Thompson. In addition, PSI provides excellent learning experiences for its students through professional leadership principles that value truth, honesty, and industry relationships.

Kawasaki has recognized PSI by assisting in the development of the school’s training material, and by recently donating over 35 Kawasaki vehicles, including motorcycles, ATVs, personal watercraft, MULEs and powersports vehicle engines.

"Kawasaki's massive show of support and recognition of our program makes the statement that there is a new player in technical training and we're doing it the right way," says Tom King, Director of Enrollment Management.  To accomodate the growing demand for its training, PSI has added start dates in 2007, which now total 8, and is increasing its training facility capacity.
